How one event changed my scope of thinking forever- My Journey into the Tech World

Before I dive into this properly, What have you heard about individuals working in the technology industry? 🤷 I’d love to know your thoughts. I’ll be debunking some tech myths in my next post. Read on.

In 2008, I operated my first computer - a Toshiba laptop. I loved it and took it everywhere, teaching myself along the way.

Personal-Owned computers were not common at the time

At the age of 8, I developed a strong attraction to computers and technology in general. I wanted to check out the latest smart device and know how to operate every device I touched. Personal-owned computers were not common at the time though.

Fast forward to my secondary school days, I developed a keen interest in graphic design and programming. I realized that I wanted to do more than just master Microsoft Office. I understood that there was more to technology than that, and I made up my mind to pursue it.

I severally tried to take online courses to become better but I never finished the courses 🤷(P.S.: It's not that I'm not productive, it's just that there are so many distractions that divert my attention.)

I had also attended a lot of tech summits and conferences none sparked me up as much as the @TxEAfrica Summit. Attending this event was one of the most resourceful experiences of my lifetime. My mindset was completely transformed, and I realized that my technology aspirations needed to be adjusted to something more realistic.

I have finally decided to acquire the necessary knowledge to kickstart my tech career as a Product Designer.

I got on Phase 1💃 of the #TxEAfricaTechBootcamp. It was a great experience as well as exciting and intense. Even though I didn't make it to the final selection stage. The experience was worthwhile and exposed me to a wider scope of what is achievable in the tech world.

It’s a survival of the fittest!

Share in the comments the event that forever changed your mindset.
